OCI cardholders no longer need a visa to enter India

OCI cardholders no longer need securing a visa for entering India. However, there are some prerequisites. If you have a divorce, you must mention in your divorce court order that you have legal custody of your child. In addition, you must have a current passport with a “U” visa sticker. If you want to apply for an OCI card, you must have a child’s birth certificate apostilled by an Indian diplomatic mission abroad.

Since 2005, the Indian government has provided guidelines to OCI cardholders, allowing them to travel to India with expired foreign passports. But these guidelines have not been fully scrutinized and have not been implemented for this year. Mr Bhandari has said that he is hopeful that the issue of tourist visas will be resolved soon. However, the Indian government has been restoring the validity of existing visas.
